Bill had recorded this bulk of songs bound to the american civil war on two occasions. Once in Minneapolis in 1993 and once in Pernes-les-Fontaines in 2004. The first recording was released on his own "bridge boy music" label, the second one on "illusions". On each one of his numerous solo concerts, he always explored that program.
It is easily understandable how much the music had evolved in ten years. Good enough reason to record it in 2004. Unfortunaly, due to the misfortunes of record publishing, the 2004 recording is no longer available.

The recording we offer today dates from 2006. Bill had delevoped even further his "civil war diaries" by then. Artistically this recording is superior and by many ways different to the 2004 one. A delight of the record publishing.
